Gate 1 — State the decision and measured value
Define which operational problem the device addresses, the baseline and the quantified improvement needed to justify investment. Specify who makes the go/no-go decision and which pilot result would trigger a stop. A functioning prototype is not automatically a valuable commercial system.
Gate 2 — Power, hardware and safety evidence
List the complete duty cycle, expected service interval, replacement method, battery behaviour in adverse temperatures, device failure modes and firmware maintenance plan. Label each parameter measured on finished hardware, vendor-supported, assumed or unknown. Safety, regulatory and radio type-approval work needs appropriate qualified specialists.
Gate 3 — Connectivity and data reality
Test real deployment locations, not only a bench network. Record coverage and roaming, transmission retries, offline handling, expected event volume, protocol overhead, retention policy and information security. Confirm whether a network disruption changes device energy consumption or staff workload.
Gate 4 — Fleet economics and sensitivity
Build a multi-year model with hardware, commissioning, connectivity, subscriptions, field service, replacements and benefits. Compare an expected case to a higher-failure, lower-benefit case. Check whether recurring costs or replacement visits eliminate the benefit. Keep prices and operational estimates sourced where possible.
Gate 5 — A defensible decision record
For each unknown write the test needed, measurement method, accountable person, acceptable threshold, cost of the test and deadline. Separate go, revise and stop decisions. The free Architecture Check can compare two technical options; MoleculeX’s R3,990 IoT Deployment Decision Pack is the structured next-stage output with economics, directional power and telemetry models, risks and a validation plan. It is not engineering sign-off.
Match the product to the decision.
Start free. Choose paid modelling only when you need an expanded decision: the R1,490 Pro Planner compares reusable scenarios; the R1,790 Economics Report provides a finished economics output for one project; the R3,990 Decision Pack adds directional power, telemetry and structured validation planning. None replaces project-specific engineering verification.
